John Maddox Roberts wurde 1947 in Ohio geboren und machte sich als Autor von Science Fiction und Fantasy-Romanen einen Namen. Zudem ist er bekannt für seinen Detektiv Decius Caecilius Metellus, welcher in der Krimiserie SPQR Fälle im alten Rom löst.
Zur Zeit lebt der Autor in Virginia, USA.
